We had another short hop from the top of Great Exuma Island. Since we were out in deep water on the Sound side, we got to see more flying fish. That’s always fun but impossible to photograph. We really have no particular schedule so we stopped for lunch and a snorkeling dip at Conch Cay. It’s just at the beginning of the large harbor area between Stocking Island on the east and Great Exuma Island on the west. That was peaceful but the harbor’s coral isn’t looking too good. I did find a perfect sand dollar in 13 feet of water right next to the boat. I think this area is mostly known for its Summer Camp For Adults vibe. I guess we can put away the snorkeling gear for a few days and enjoy the party.
Did I ever mention how much Mike dislikes crowded anchorages? Well this area takes the top prize! The area is huge so it’s not really a problem but that really is a lot of boats to navigate. We passed by the worst of it and went to the Sand Dollar Beach Anchorage. We found a nice spot along the shore and already were visited by one of the locals. Dolphins really are my favorite but flying fish are a must–see too. I guess it has to do with the fact that flying fish are always trying to get away from you and dolphins come over to check you out.
