We got started just before first light again. No real wind so we’re motoring. As we crossed the deep water between the Berry Islands and New Providence Island, we encountered some big ocean swells. Normally, 4–6 foot waves on the beam would be uncomfortable but these were fat and far apart. We got gently lifted and lowered as they slid by. If you were sitting at the table when in the trough, you couldn’t see over some of them but it was all very civilized and polite.
We passed New Providence Island on schedule. We went by on its western edge were the power plant lives. Nassau and all of its traffic are on the other side. There aren’t as many marinas on this side but there aren’t as many coral heads either. One gorgeous 300 foot yacht was too big for any of the marinas so she had to anchor out. She is a whale! Those yellow umbrellas are full size market umbrellas.
The water is so clear that you can see the bottom. No glass bottom boat required. In about 20 feet, we easily saw starfish on the bottom, little coral heads with fish colonies, and a 6 foot shark swimming by. It’ll be a long day to Highbourne Cay but at least it’s peaceful and sunny.
