We pulled into the anchorage at Highbourne Cay just before sunset. Highbourne Cay is tall so you can see it from about 12 miles away. After a long day, it’s nice to see land. It’s been very calm weather so it’s very pleasant. The anchorage was quite popular but not too crowded. The marina here is a bit pricey so many folks choose to anchor.
The sun is up so we’re taking full advantage with all our solar chargers out. We have our Luci (inflatable, solar powered, LED light) out and our solar brick sitting on the back bench. Free power is good.
We took a dinghy ride up to the group of islands just to the north on the chain. Our goal was to see Iguana Beach on Leaf Cay. Google Maps has a dot for it but we’ve been burned by Google Maps before. Redemption! We found it. A quiet little slip of beach with what looked like iguanas from a distance. So we drifted in to shore and they paid close attention us. The warnings are that they seem tame but they AREN’T. We stayed in the boat. Then precisely at 10:30, the big tourist adventure boat showed up and squirted out oodles of folks with grapes on sticks to feed the iguanas. When the grapes were gone, the iguanas lost interest and left the beach. Then it was just Tourist Beach. Glad we arrived a few minutes before them.
