We made it to Manteo without running aground which is apparently popular with many boaters these days. There is a YouTube video about how to do it. It helps a lot. A small power boat of locals watched us navigate the trickiest spot with big grins. I’m not sure whether they were rooting for us or the sandbar.
As we maneuvered into position to share the end of a dock with a large power boat, I chatted with the friendly dockhand. He told me that he appreciated how carefully we came in because that other boat is VERY nice… uh, your boat’s nice too.
We’re looking forward to a few days here. The Avenue Waterfront Grill is calling my name. I can almost reach out and touch it from the front of the boat.
