We couldn’t get a spot in Charleston for the week we wanted. So, we skipped it and sailed overnight to Florida where the dolphins were very welcoming. We’re hanging out at anchor listening to Irish tunes on the stereo. The Amelia Island Marina is closed for repairs (too many hurricanes). No worries, it’s nice right where we are.
That’s our first overnight run this trip. For the most part, we let the autopilot keep us on course. We preplanned to navigate close to shore so we could change our mind and duck back inside if the conditions weren’t as favorable as forecast. Mike takes the first shift on watch. Then at 3:30am, I take the second shift. If we choose our weather window carefully, one night of this is easy. It’s still nice to drop the anchor around lunchtime and relax for the rest of the day. The dolphins are just a bonus.
