Bimini - Alice Town

We plan to be in Bimini for three nights. There is a prediction for some windy weather on Friday - Saturday. Once that passes, we’ll sail south to Gun Cay where there is a popular channel to get through to the Great Bahama Bank where we can cross eastward.

The water is turquoise, the sky is blue, clouds are fluffy white. We have a nice view of South Bimini from the back of the boat. The island is 1 block wide so it was an easy walk over to the beach this morning. I remembered from our last visit the the beach had lots of sea glass. I did not remember the no-see-ums but they were there in force. It was a short beach walk.

I did find lots of sea glass. I’d like to use some of the smaller, smoother pieces to make some charms for my bracelet. I have heard that with the right Dremel bit, you can drill holes in it. I’ll see if my clever, crafty niece Vivien can help me with that. Most of the chunks get added to the mini shell mulch from Ft Lauderdale in my hanging plants.

Another thing I REALLY remember from last visit is the local fishermen who wander the dock in the afternoon selling their catch. Back in 2017, our hosts, Linda and Jack, bought a mountain of lobster tails and we grilled them. Lobster and Sea Glass that’s what I’m here for. We ate dinner too early yesterday but still chatted with a local fellow on the dock who said he’d have lobster today. Fingers crossed!
