It’s a lovely morning in Wrightsville Beach. The forecast is for thunderstorms but I don’t see any yet. Yesterday we did a predawn to dusk run. We started in Oriental, went down the ICW to Beaufort, motored out the inlet and had a nice motor/sail to Masonboro inlet at Wrightsville Beach. We arrived at sunset, dropped the anchor, and had everything put away by dark. Mike had acquired apple cider in Oriental so we warmed it up and added some Kill Devil Hills Pecan Honey Rum (The Devil In Cider). That was a long but easy day.
The day before was fine for Luna and crew as Tropical Storm Nestor swept through Oriental. It didn’t go so well for a few other boats. We were well tied to the face dock with every fender we own between us and the dock. The wind pinned us to the dock rather insistently but we weren’t planning to leave so staying squished there was fine with us.
The other boat on the face dock got an early morning bump. Thankfully the storm came through after dawn so he could see that the bump was from a sailboat that had been at anchor. He tied it to his boat and wrestled with it for about a hour before coming down to ask for help. He had decided that he was going to have to cut it loose to prevent more damage to his boat but realized that would be dropping it in our lap. Mike went down and helped get some long lines on the wayward boat so they could pull it in to the dock rather than just setting it adrift. They got it safely secured to the dock. Nobody got hurt. The excitement was over in time for a nice lunch out at the Toucan Grill.
