It looks like we’ll get a calm weather window allowing for a Thursday cross to the Bahamas. We’ve called ahead and made marina reservations in Bimini for the first few nights. We’ll clear in to the country and begin the next phase of the adventure.
We’ll likely leave Ft Lauderdale tomorrow around mid–day. Turn south and sail down the Hawk Channel to Biscayne Bay just south of Miami. We’ll anchor out in a familiar spot near No Name Harbor. Then we’ll spend Wednesday double checking the weather, tide schedules, boat systems, etc. We’ll wake up early on Thursday and head east into the Gulf Stream and ride it up and over to Bimini.
Winter in south Florida has been lovely. We highly recommend it. We like to walk 2 miles down the beach to the inlet, climb up on the stone jetty and watch other boats come and go. We’ve navigated this inlet a bunch of times but it’s still fun to watch the boats. You see everything from jet skis to cruise ships. Tomorrow, it’ll be us.
